About |
The quiet village, Great Brak River, positioned equidistant between Mossel Bay and George came in effect when a bridge was built across the river in 1859. A tollgate was managed by Charles Searle and the town progressively started to take shape around his accomplishments.
Glentana lies East of the Great Brak River. It is still uncertain where the name came from, but the reigning tale is one that states the kinship between the town and a Glentana whiskey that is still brewed in Northern Scotland.
Glentana was uninhabited until about the 1900’s where after a few houses were erected in order for the owners to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It gained momentum and the demand for property grew substantially.
