Welcome to ERA in Western Cape
At the foot of Africa between Mountains and the Sea we find the International City, CAPE TOWN.
Cape Town, South Africa's Mother City, has been a port of trade ever since the first explorers rounded the Cape of Good Hope. Our history began when white settlers arrived on the shores of Table Bay in 1652, and created a halfway station for the Dutch East Indian Company by supplying fresh vegetables and meat to the passing ships. Cape Town with Table Mountain towering over the city, is known throughout the world for its spectacular natural beauty and attracts many foreign visitors from all over the world. Table Mountain is lit up at night during the summer season and a cable car operates daily, taking visitors to the top of the mountain to view the beautiful peninsula, the West Coast coastline and Robben Island.
Many historic buildings include the Houses of Parliament as well as the Castle and various Museums. The city is also known for the Flower Sellers, the Company Gardens, St George's Cathedral, the Noon Gun, and the Bo- Kaap with its colourful historic Malay homes and the District Six Museum. Old Victorian Homes are still found against this picturesque mountain backdrop.
Cape Town Harbour has been transformed into the popular V & A Waterfront, which offers several shops, restaurants, hotels, entertainment and now properties for the wealthy. Real Estate in Cape Town is amongst the most expensive and sought after in the country with prices being pushed up by foreign investors.
Cape Town looks towards the West Coast with its ice-cold Atlantic Ocean, beautiful white beaches and unspoilt coastline from Blouberg and Melkbos to Saldanha Bay and Britannia Bay, well known for its Crayfish or Red Gold.
